Star Idaho Real Estate & Homes for Sale

Homes For Sale In Star IDLocated less than twenty miles from Boise Idaho is the city of Star, which is one of the smaller cities of the state in terms of population -- being the 25th most populous in Idaho. The city is part of Ada County (on the western side) and Canyon County (on the eastern side). If you are looking for homes for sale in Star, however, in regards to property taxes, you won’t need to be too concerned for which county your home falls in. The counties have a difference of a mere .15% or less. The city is also called The Brightest Jewel in the Gem State and has a history that dates back to 1863. How the city got its name is rather interesting since it has something to do with an outline of a star on the city’s old schoolhouse. This star was used by travelers to determine how close food and lodging was, which was a mile from the schoolhouse. The city has been called Star ever since.

More About Star’s History

Relocating to Star, Idaho is a move most people make when they want a city that offers a laid-back, old-fashioned lifestyle but still want some semblance of city living. With Boise just a 25-minute drive away, it is the perfect location for those who want to be near, but not in, a big city. This means you can live life at a relaxed pace but with the amenities and conveniences of a larger city.

Star is one of the earliest settlements in Idaho. Its rich history makes it an interesting city to live in. Great respect for that history helps it keep its identity as a modernized city with an old American feel. It is also a city that has less than 10,000 citizens within its borders, giving it that small-town ambiance that most people look for in a place to call home. Star, founded in 1863, was incorporated in 1905 and had established city limits four miles in all directions from its center. Over the years, Star saw progress bring in more improvements to the town, with the addition of the railroad, an increase in agriculture, and the introduction of more schools part of these improvements. This progress, however, took a downslide when the Boise & Interurban railway closed and fewer people passed through town. It got unincorporated in 1928, taking it from “city status” back down to “town status”. It got re-incorporated in 1997, becoming a part of Ada County. These days, Star is showing a lot of progress and is slowly picking up where it left off. The population is steadily growing as well, with numbers almost doubling from what it was in 2010.
